Letter of introduction
After I graduated from Bellingham High School in 2015, I came to UW as an aspiring mechanical engineer. I knew I wanted to solve environmental problems and I thought that by pursuing an engineering degree, I could help create solutions to these problems. After a year of endless equations, I realized that I needed to do something with more human interaction. I also loved to be outside exploring, and learning how we’re affecting the environment as a society. Both these factors made me take a year to see what the University of Washington had to offer me. Eventually I found CEP and fell in love with the major. To pursue my interest in the environment, I am excited to also be double majoring in environmental studies!
Currently I am a junior at UW and excited about the experiences I have gained so far. I have played on the ultimate frisbee team for the past two years and intend to continue this year as well. I have also been a leader in my fraternity this past year and will continue to do so. I oversaw recruitment and had to facilitate events every week, reach out to potential new members, and communicate with Alumni. These activities coupled with school have helped develop me into a leader, and I’m excited to go through the rest of my time in CEP.
After I graduate, I hope to be doing something with the environment. One of my worst fears is working at a desk job my whole life. Getting to go outside everyday would be amazing, especially if I could help make a difference. In an ideal world, I will be working for an environmental organization that can work around the Pacific Northwest.
